Once they have made a decision to lose weight, the next step for most people is to try to find some help. Not surprising, since they usually have no idea how to accomplish the task.
For many of these people, the first step will be to get their hands on
some diet book, hoping that it will contain the magic solution to what
they see as their personal weight loss problem. However, most will be
disillusioned and will either give up completely, or spend a lot of
time, and money, jumping from one fad diet to the next.
Some will latch on to the teachings of the current, or past, weight
loss guru, but, in most cases, they too will find that after a period
of time, not only have they NOT lost weight, but may even have gained
some.
You see, one of the problems is that many of these diet book authors
and weight loss gurus are a one-trick-pony when it comes to weight
loss. Now, that would not be a terrible problem if the "trick" worked
for most of the people. Unfortunately, most of these diets or weight
loss plans, which may have actually worked for a few people, are long
on hope and short on science.
Additionally, a diet book generally is just that...a diet book.

So, if the diet, and diet book, de jour does not work, what does...and
why?
The first thing you have to do is change your mindset. Losing weight is
not the issue. You can "lose weight" simply by starving yourself, or by
sweating off several pounds. However, this is not healthy weight loss
nor is it permanent weight loss.
You need to think instead about effective ways to burn fat.
If you quit eating, i.e. "go on a diet", to lose weight, you will
encounter a slew of problems, as I point out in Why
Diets Don't work, so I won't
belabor them here. If you sweat off water weight, your body will
eventually replace all the water and the weight will return.
One of the main reasons for this is that you have not gotten rid of the
"sponges" in your body which make you overweight by holding water...and
by their very existance in copious quantities.
These little buggers are fat cells, and no diet book is going to really
address effective ways to burn fat...and
keep it off.
Going on a diet does not get rid of fat cells, sweating does not burn fat cells, and the way most people exercise
is not very good at burning fdt either.
So, what CAN you do?
I have been studying the subjects of exercise, fitness, diet, weight
loss, and healthy aging since I was 16 (1961...you do the math). That
means just about half a century, right?
Over that half century, I have uncovered many excellent sources of
information on these topics and have a short list of people whose
advice on these topics I truly respect. While no one book or expert
constantly addresses every issue in a way that is most effective for
everybody all the time, I often recommend that people who wish to lose
weight, get fit, and simply be healthy, read "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle"
by a straight-talking gentleman named Tom Venuto.
In HIS ebook, which is definitely NOT a diet book, Tom Venuto lays out
in an easy to understand and simple to follow manner how to
effectively, and permanently, "burn fat.
Now, Tom Venuto did NOT just ride in on a head of lettuce and start
spouting weight loss proclamations. He is a championship natural
bodybuilder (no drugs or artificial enhancers), an experienced and
certified fitness trainer, an expert on nutrition, and one of the best
motivational experts I have ever met.
When I bought my first copy of "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle"
back in 2005, I re-read the opening portions of the book several times
before I ever got around to the part about how to actually burn fat!
That's how impressed I was with Tom's abiity to motivate the reader.
I can brag about Tom Venuto's fat burning ebook all day long, but,
unless you read what he has to say himself, you will not get the full
force of his message.
