Fat Burning Circuit Training Workout
By Donovan Baldwin
When it comes to burning fat, one of the best methods of burning fat quickly, while keeping muscle, is circuit training.
In case you are not familiar with the concept, circuit training means, essentially, alternating aerobic activity with strength training exercises in a given workout.
If you are the least bit familiar with most standard forms of exercise, you can probably put together a fairly effective circuit training program yourself. However, there are certain things you should know about, and do properly, to really get the fat burning, muscle building results that are possible.
For one thing, you cannot simply stumble your way through a circuit training workout, and, while almost "any old excercise" will do for basic health and fitness, fat burning and muscle building on a rewarding scale takes a plan, and a lot of personal effort on your part.
When properly done, circuit training creates a "metabolic surge", i.e. a rapid increase in metabolism. If the workout is done properly, this "surge" can hang in there for hours after the workout, continuing to burn fat long after you have showered and are going about your daily activities.
A few basic tips for creating a fat burning metabolic surge with an effective circuit training program include:
Having all the types and pieces of equipment you will need close to one another so that you lose as little time as possible between each part of the workout.
Being prepared for NO REST between the workout sets.
Setting up everything ahead of time.
Warming up ahead of the actual circuit training.
Performing carefully chosen exercises to fit AFTER the warm-up and BEFORE the actual workout.
Doing the circuit training exercises in proper sequence and at the proper intensity.
Doing the proper number of repetitions and sets of the strength training portion and the proper amount of aerobic activity in between the strength training sets.
One thing to remember about creating a fat burning, metabolic surge with a circuit training program is that there are various body parts to be exercised, so, you have to include all the appropriate body parts in the strength training portions of the workout.
Whew! Sounds like a lot of work, doesn't it?
Well, it is, in more ways than one. As I mentioned, you will need to plan your program before you actually work it.
Fortunately, there is a FREE, but very comprehensive, sample fat loss, circuit training program you can use available from Fit Step.
