About Barefoot Shoes and Sandals from XeroWare
What is the Barefoot Shoes from XeroWare product?
Xero Shoes® are a modern version of traditional barefoot running sandals. They are durable, stylish and affordable, and yet so modern, so tech-savvy, so light and low-profile it’s like you’re not wearing anything on your feet as you run or walk. Don't be deceived, however, you get a strong layer of protection with Xero Shoes, your feet and legs work the way nature intended, your posture can naturally realign itself, and you awaken your senses and stimulate your brain as you reconnect with the natural feel of walking and running.
Thanks mainly to the recent publication, and high popularity, of Chris McDougall’s best-selling book, Born to Run, together with research from Daniel Lieberman, of Harvard University, people everywhere are re-discovering the magic of barefoot running and natural movement.
People who have tried running barefoot enjoy telling how barefoot running has improved their running experience, healed old injuries, strengthened their feet and legs, turned flat feet into feet with arches, and much more.
One big problem you face when you choose to run barefoot, and a not very surprising one when you think about it, is all the stuff laying on the ground that can hurt your feet...not to mention all the dirt you have to wash off when your run is finished. And, being out walking or running barefood is incovenient because most stores and restaurants won’t let you in without shoes.
NO SHIRT, NO SHOES, NO SERVICE!
Really, that's only a few of the reasons why you’ll want to try a pair of Xero barefoot running sandals. These are barefoot running sandals, or shoes, are even “better than barefoot”.
Author Chris McDougall describes huaraches, the running sandals of the Tarahumara Indians in his book Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen. The running shoes of the Tarahumara Indians are simply a strip of rubber from an old tire and some string or lace to hold it on.
HI TECH HUARACHES
The running sandals from Xero Shoes are a hi-tech update of huaraches. They’re lightweight, weighing only 3.4 ounces in a men’s size 9, and amazingly comfortable and flexible. If you like the feeling of being barefoot, whether walking or running, you will love wearing Xero Shoes.
Is this for real? Do people really run in barefoot running sandals or shoes?
C'mon! Ask me something hard! The facts are that tens of thousands of people from around the world, people of all ages, mind you, use Xero Shoes barefoot running sandals for running, walking, hiking, biking, camping, going to the beach, hitting the gym, and doing yoga. Some people have even run 100-mile ultramarathons wearing our running sandals. Even our own customer service manager, Bill, runs from his house to the bus, from the bus stop to the office, back home, and then around with his dogs...daily Overall, he puts about 70-90 miles on his Xero Shoes barefoot running sandals each week!
How do you run in these huaraches sandals? +
Well, while there's not that much to it, there are a few pointers for the beginner when it comes to running in our high tech huaraches. I guess the biggest single tip is to understand that, at first, they are going to seem so easy to run in that you might be tempted to do more than you should. You've got to learn a slightly different way of running since you are not wearing relatively heavy shoes with thick, heavily cushioned souls. Over time, you will develop your own style of barefoot running which you will really enjoy as it is an easier, kinder, gentler way of running.
One other tip: Some people use what is called the "slap test". If your running sandals are "slapping" the ground, you're trying too hard.
Will running in huaraches (or barefoot) cure my running problems and injuries?
while tools contribute to the construction of the building, it's the skill of the builders that results in an ediface which is beautiful and functional. Using barefoot running sandals can certainly help with many running problems and ease some pains, but, most of the results will come from what you do...not what you wear. However, running barefoot, or in barefoot running sandals or shoes gives your body a lot of feedback about form and helps you adopt a more ergonomically efficent running style.
How long will do Xero Shoes barefoot running sandals, or huaraches, last?
Actually, nobody knows how long these barefoot running shoes will last. There are pairs with over 10,000 miles, and, it doesn't really matter as they come with a 50,000 mile warranty anyway!
One other factor you need to consider is cost. While a pair of barefoot running sandals from XeroWare intially cost about the same as a low-budget pair of running shoes, they will last much, much longer, saving you a ton of money over time.
